The BMW X2 M35i features a 302-hp version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine exclusive to the high-performance X2. CNET. Been driving 2.3 and 2.0 Turbo'ed Saab engines since I was 16, I would never go back to NA gas engine in a car. The power of those power plants is unreal and they get great mileage doing it. Our newest is a 2.0 Turbo'ed 4 in a BMW since we had to make a change since GM screwed over the new owners of Saab and wouldn't let them continue building
Diesels are simply better in this department, as much as 30 or even 40 per cent better, although modern, direct-injection petrol engines are catching up. This doesn't just save you money (although the slightly higher price of diesel has to be factored in), it saves you time, because you get more range from a tank - well over 1000km in some cars
These engines are of a different design. They share similar technology, but it's not like the 2.0 is just a larger bore version of the 1.6 with higher-flow fuel injectors and a different ECU map. In a sense, the two motors have no more in common than they do with another manufacturer's turbo, direct injection engines.
